The Rawhiti Caveon New Zealand’s South island has possibly the most diverse and extensive entrance of any cave in New Zealand. A mind-boggling array of stalactites hang from the pit wall like small rows of crocodile teeth, all angling out towards the entrance. Inside the cave is a garden of massive stalagmites growing from the cave floor, surrounded by mounds of drip terraces. These ferns were growing in a sliver of light at the very back of the cave, leaning towards the entrance in an attempt to capture as much light as possible.
Humans are awakened through life experience, learning, and awareness. Like ferns, we grow and flourish if we unfurl toward light or truth.
